Nancy O'Brien-Abel, MN, RNC-OB

Nancy is a perinatal clinical nurse specialist with over 35 years' experience in caring for women with normal and complicated pregnancies.  As a Clinical Instructor/Lecturer, University of Washington School of Nursing (1987-present) and a former Teaching Associate in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the UW Medical School (1992-2012), she has actively focused on multi-disciplinary education and collaboration.  Nancy is a nationally recognized speaker, author, and consultant on fetal monitoring, patient safety and complicated pregnancies.  She is on the editorial board of MCN The American Journal of Maternal/Child Nursing and is an active member in the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), contributing to various position statements, evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, authoring chapters in AWHONN's Fetal Heart Monitoring Principles and Practice (2021/2015/2009), and co-editing and authoring chapters in AWHONN's Perinatal Nursing (2021/2014).  Committed to improving the quality of perinatal care for mothers and neonates, Nancy now spends much of her time as a perinatal clinical consultant and educator to hospitals and healthcare systems throughout the US.  Nancy is NCC certified and received her Master of Nursing from the Perinatal CNS Program, University of Washington in Seattle.


Terrie Lockridge, MSN, RNC-NIC

Terrie is a neonatal clinical nurse specialist with over 25 years of professional practice devoted to supporting optimal care for newborns at risk.  She has experience in many different aspects of neonatal critical care, including ECMO, post-operative cardiac care, transport, resuscitation and stabilization.  Terrie received her BSN from Saint Anselm College and her MSN from Boston College.  She is NCC certified, and is a former member of the NCC task force responsible for the NICU certification examination.  Terrie is active in the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN), and a past member of NANN's national conference planning committee, advanced practice specialty group (SIG council), and the NICU certification review committee.  She is a member of the Academy of Neonatal Nurses (ANN) and past president of the Pacific NW Association of Neonatal Nurses (PNANN).  Terrie is an accomplished author, having published in Critical Care Nurse, Mother Baby Journal, Neonatal Network, American Journal of Maternal/Child Nursing, and Journal of Developmental Care of Newborns (2010) and Newborn Intensive Care: What Every Parent Needs to Know (2010).  Terrie has been Regional Trainer for the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and a Lead Instructor of the STABLE Program since the inception of both curriculums.  She is an engaging and knowledgeable speaker, having presented nationally for Contemporary Forums, NANN and the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).  Her special interests include neonatal skin care, pain management, and neuro-protection.  Terrie currently works as a nurse in a Level 4 NICU at a Seattle tertiary center.  Because she has spent nearly 20 years providing bedside care in high risk referral centers, Terrie brings a practical approach to her educational offerings that combines pragmatic clinical information wit the latest in evidence based practice.
